During the Earth development, the nature gave us a very rare gift,
Zeolite. The important part
of the Natural Zeolite Zeolite is the crystalline hydrated aluminosilicate
of alkaline metals and metals of alkaline earths (Ca, K, Na, Mg) called
clinoptilolite.
The clinoptilolite structure is based on a three-dimensional skeleton composed of SiO4- tetrahedrons, which are mutually connected by their oxygen atoms. The silicon atoms are partly substituted by aluminium atoms.
The spatial structure contains regularily arranged pores and channels.
The channel dimensions are sufficiently large so that the molecules with the
dimension of some tenths of nanometers may penetrate and adsorb into them.
In these channels solid, liquid and gaseous matters can be adsorbed.
Simple said: "Clinoptilolite is a magnet for toxic matters like
ammonia, lead, mercury, radionuklides, co2, so2 and so on".
